Annual Report Excerpt

Do not neglect to do good and share
What you have, for such sacrifices are
Pleasing to God.
Hebrews 13:16

As we reflected upon the past year meeting at 2:00 pm, the last Monday of each month (September through April) always with the aim of serving our Parish and the Church worldwide, Holy Trinity Anglican Women were very much aware of God's blessings upon them and were truly grateful.

In 2005, the In-Gathering Service of the Least Coin was held November 16, 1:30 pm at St. James Presbyterian Church attended by A.C.W member, Doris Gray representing Holy Trinity Anglican Church Women.

The Fellowship of the Least Coin is an international ecumenical movement of prayer for peace, justice and reconciliation. Their movement was begun in 1956 by Shanti Solomn of India who was part of a Christian women's mission of reconciliation to countries on the Pacific Rim. When she was not allowed into Korea because it did not have diplomatic relations with India, she stayed behind in the Philippines looking for a way to make all women feel part of the worldwide family of faith. As she prayed, God gave her the simple but profound idea of the Fellowship of the Least Coin, which is today and ever-widening circle of prayer embracing people around the world. It is a prayer movement not a fund-raising effort. The least coins are merely tokens of our prayers.

Once a year, the least coins of each country are collected in local "ingathering services". The offerings are sent to be held in trust at the Women's Inter-Church Council of Canada and then forwarded to the global Fellowship of the Least Coin fund which is administered by the International Committee of the Least Coin.

Request for funds come through--in Canada--the Women's Inter-Church Council of Canada. Grants are made for projects including literacy, health, social justice, education, leadership development and disaster relief.

In addition to our other activities, we were able to contribute 21 boxes of hand-knit infant sets--infant clothing, toys and toiletries were forwarded to the Thelma Wynne Project working out of St. Matthew's Church, as a result of the annual shower held the last Monday of October. In addition, 2 boxes of infant clothing was also sent to them in May and September. It was our pleasure to contribute to this commendable organization of volunteers who distributed the articles through community services such as Community Ministry, Interfaith Council, Hope Centre, Anderson House and the Healthy Start Program. In 25005, they distributed 352 layettes. The total amount of all items donated amounted to $2,417.80.

Sincerest appreciation from all our members to Gordon Silk who pleasantly delivered our precious boxes to the Thelma Wynne Project and Pregnancy and Family Support Services Inc. and to the Rev. Henry Falconer, our advocate.

    Respectfully submitted
    Jackie Bird, Chairperson

Give thanks for unknown blessings already on their way.
