Alpha

Looking for answers? The alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed, non-threatening manner in nine thought-provoking sessions. It's low key, friendly and fun.

Our church has being doing Alpha series for a number of years. They have blessed our congregation and brought many people to Christ. Our Alpha series is part of a world-wide program that you may want to know more about.

We're coming to the end of our current Alpha, but we'll be running another, probably in the fall. We'd be happy to put your name down for the next one, either as a participant or a volunteer.

The coordinator for this Alpha is:

Sel Mancusi
sel@lctaylor.net

You can either contact Sel directly by e-mail, or phone the office at 942-7465 and leave a message for him.

Our Alpha ministry can use you in assisting in the planning and running of Alpha courses, in the promotion and advertising of the Alpha program, and in welcoming Alpha participants. The talents and skills you need to volunteer include good people skills, listening, encouraging, and peacemaking.

Annual Report Excerpt

Alpha is a tried, proven and effective method of reaching out to the fallen-away and those who do not yet believe. I really believe that Alpha is one way of responding to what the Holy Spirit is asking of us today.

Two Alpha courses were conducted during the last year. The Spring course ran from March to May, and the Fall course from September to November. We have now conducted a total of ten (10) Alpha courses at Holy Trinity from the Fall of 2001 to the Fall of 2005.

While the Alpha experience continues to be enlightening, stimulating and rewarding it is felt that the time is right for a full review of the program here at Holy Trinity--why are we doing it and are we meeting our objectives? With that in mind, together with the launching of the "40 Days of Purpose" program, the Education and Evangelism Committee has decided not to conduct a Spring Alpha in 2006. It is anticipated that there could be a Fall course in 2006 following the full review of the program.

I wish to thank the Ministry Team and the many volunteers who gave so generously of their time, talents and money to the ALPHA Ministry; the many who joyfully served with honour and not for honour; the many who demonstrated that service to humanity is the best work of life; and the many who were so willing to show love and caring for others.

I am thankful for the privilege to have served with such a dedicated team.

    In Christ's love,
Gene J. Lloyd, Alpha Ministry Director
