For the last two years, Heart's Refuge, our house band here at Holy Trinity, put on A Gospel Pentecost. The response was so positive, they`re doing it again.

Fifty years ago, musicians like Mahalia Jackson, the Blind Boys of Alabama, the Soul Stirrers, and Sister Dorothy Love Coates created and defined a classic gospel sound that still moves people today. It was the source of soul, R&B, and the Motown sound. Some say that even rock and roll is little more than a pale imitation of gospel music.
A Gospel Pentecost uses gospel music (and a few readings) to tell the story of the 50 days between Jesus’ Resurrection and the Pentecost.
